The Horse represents a fast-paced year, breaking away from the, quieter energy of the preceding year to move swiftly toward goals. It is a time for ambition, career advancement, and, taking, risks.
Which is definetly the direction this year feels like it is heading…At the moment I am adjusting to a new job and a more demanding schedule. In doing so I am trying to make sure I prioritise self care, and for me self care looks exactly like this. Time spent with animals is extremely therapeautic. Even though I’m very fortunate to have pets of my own, and my backyard wildlife friends that let me interact with them, horses are just on another level of special. Their sweet grassy smell alone is so comforting, the pffffff sounds they make, the constant swishing of their tails…
Even though there only appears to be one horse in these photos, there were actually two; Sonny & George. Sonny has a big personality, is very mischievous and likes to get stuck into everything he can. Wheareas George is a very well behaved and dignified fellow. These two boys belong to our family members and have the best life that former racers can have; hanging out in a big paddock eating watermellon and other delicacies. If you’re wondering why Diago wasn’t included in these photos, considering the history of the dalmatian with horses…Diago absoloutely hates horses and cows. Any creature that is significantly larger than him (and not a Great Dane) is an abomination as far as Diago is concerned. He thinks its just awful the way horses and cows want to go up to him for a sniff and a lick.
It is impossible for me to interact with horses and not think about the cruelty that man has inflicted upon these creatures throughout the centuries, and the suffering that continues to this day. Once these nobel and intelligent animals led men into war. They stood over them on battlefields and carried injured riders back to camp during retreat; saving the lives of many. And then when they stopped being used for war, they were abused on race tracks for the entertainment of drunk wife beaters and other degenerates who get a dopamine hit from watching animals injuring themselves.
According to the Coalition for the Protection of Racehorses (CPR) Deathwatch Report, 2025 was the deadliest year on record for horse racing in Australia, with 175 thoroughbred horses confirmed to have died as a direct result of racing or trackwork. This figure represents a 14% increase compared to the previous year, averaging at least one horse death every 2.0 days. For me, it really is beyond comprehension how anyone can support this, but I suppose it is one of those things that only those with a damaged frontal lobe can understand…
