wearing: The House of Foxy peasant blouse, The Seamstress of Bloomsbury skirt (altered from a dress), Lulu Hun heels, necklace and hair flowers made by me, purse from Mexico

My brother did some travelling around Mexico recently and I was really jealous inspired by his photos. What beautiful landscapes and scenery! The cacti, the agave plants and bright coloured buildings…I guess this cactus garden will have to do for now. But if I was to take a trip to Mexico, this is exactly the kind of outfit I would pack. Peasant blouses became very trendy in the 1940s, with embroidered blouses from various continents making their way into mainstream fashion.

One of the reasons I really like the peasant blouse and skirt combo is the way it blends in with contemporary fashion. A few years back I styled this skirt with a different The House of Foxy blouse, and three years later I’m posting it again…with another House of Foxy Blouse.

When I was sorting through my boxes of things I came across this chilli necklace I made a few years ago and then decided I didn’t like it, and never wore it. For some reason I like it a lot more now that I have found it again, and thought it tied in nicely with the theme of this outfit. The little leather bag in these photos was a souvenir from Mexico that my brother got me. I made him a long list of the things I wanted because Mexico is renowned for having skilled artisans who produce the most beautiful clothing and art work.
