I don’t think I need to elaborate why this is my favourite 1940s suit that I own. Just look at the bow detail on the sleeves and back! I waited until the sakura bloomed to take these photos because I felt this outfit needed a pink, dreamy backdrop and I’m so glad I did. This suit is another one by Revival, who are truly up there when it comes to creating authentic vintage reproduction clothing for men and women. If you’re someone that doesn’t fit the generic XXS sizing for true vintage but still want to create authentic 1940s looks, I cannot recommend this company enough.
When we were taking these photos we happened to meet the gardener to created this breath taking Japanese garden thirty years ago. He had never been to Japan and yet managed to capture the elegance that Japanese gardens are famous for so perfectly. The only notable difference I think is the blossoms planted in Japan are a different variety. They have long, weeping branches and lighter coloured, lacy blooms. But I imagine that the ones planted here were chosen based on how well they would survive the climate here. The ones in this garden are definitely no less beautiful to me.
I love the way there’s different shades of pink flowering from the same tree. The petals remind me of frilly petticoats and the shades of pink are like fairy floss and marshmallows. My only regret is not staying in the garden a bit longer and sitting in the pavilion that has been built for blossom chasers to admire the blooms. It was freezing that morning and I was in a hurry to get out of the cold…
The soft blue paired with the pink background is perfect! Those blossoms are beautiful.
