Well June has been a busy month. Busy with lots of fun things that is! But something that wasn’t so fun was when my camera had to be laid to rest. We were taking photos and suddenly a big black mark appeared on the photos and that was it. That said, after 12 years of reliable service, it had a pretty good run. I’m the opposite of a tech chaser. You won’t see me rushing out to buy the latest device! I didn’t get anything too fancy, but hopefully these photos are a bit sharper and nicer looking.
This outfit is kind of like my winter uniform. I’m a bit like a cartoon character, always wearing the same thing. In winter I usually alternate between a pair of Vivien of Holloway slacks and one of my LindyLous jumpers. Or my brown suit worn as separates. Previously I’ve blogged this jumper with a dress and wore a rendition of this outfit last year.
But the main reason I wanted to post this outfit is because of how well it compliments this brooch that my friend made. A few months ago a friend linked me this WWII sweetheart brooch listing. Which led me down the rabbithole of looking at WWII sweetheart pins. I love how they look and the history behind them. And they are priced accordingly of course. It occurred to me that a mutual friend of ours who is outstandingly clever and crafty, who had already mastered the art of recreating plastiflex purses – could probably make something very similar.
I think she did an amazing job with creating this ‘V’ for Victory brooch that features a plane, and it even has a moving propeller. Not only is it such a cute design, but it also gives a 1940s outfit that extra bit of authenticity, as brooches like this were commonly worn by those with enlisted loved ones. The goal now is to see what other designs we can come up with to recreate, with the hope of making them available for purchase. If you are interested in nabbing a brooch like this for yourself, my friend will be running a giveaway on her social media, so be sure to give miss_audrey_azure a follow and stay tuned for updates on the giveaway!
