Babushka

September 2, 2017 · 7 Comments

When I think about this beautiful city, Ella Fitzgerald singing I Love Paris comes into my head, only in my head I like to replace Paris with Moscow. The beginning of this month marks the end of my time here, in a few weeks I will be going home. After being here for a while now it’s hard to imagine living anywhere else. Hard to imagine not being able to catch the train into the city and visit beautiful palaces and parks, not to walk down beautiful boulevards lined with pastel buildings or ride the very loud magnificent metro. To go for walks in the forest and pick flowers in the beautiful meadow near my house. I’m sad that I’m not going to be here when the maple leaves turn red, or when the first snow of the year falls. Every day it’s getting colder and most mornings on my walk to the station I can see my breath.

I’ve been wearing my grandmothers shawl a lot. You probably won’t be surprised when I say that it didn’t even occur to me to bring a scarf, so having this shawl to wear has been wonderful. If you’re wondering whether people actually wear these in Russia – yes they do! Shawls like this are very popular because they are fashionable and practical, the one I’m wearing is made of wool and very warm. I packed my Miss Candyfloss jumpsuit because it’s one of the warmest things in my wardrobe and an easy travel outfit as it’s an all in one. This was one of the first Miss Candyfloss pieces I bought and I get a lot of wear out of it. If you live somewhere that gets cold in winter I seriously recommend getting your hands on one, I promise that on a cold windy day these are just the thing. I also have this same style in black, and could easily go for the rest of the colours Miss Candyfloss create.

Gorgeous photos! You look absolutely beautiful here. Love the shawl, it’s wonderful to have something like that of your grandmother’s to keep with you and wear in your everyday life.

Ah, dreamy, dreamy pictures again! I love the light in the last one, it literally made me gasp at my computer screen! And I love how the colours and floral details on your shawl pop against the solid Rust(?) hue of your jumpsuit. Such a darling look! ❀

Your grandmother’s shawl is the perfect accessory for this jumpsuit – I love the look and it’s so fittingly Russia-inspired. I will be sad when you go back to being in a totally different timezone, for sure πŸ™
