The Lighthouse

August 27, 2015 · 14 Comments

I used to try really hard to limit the amount of nautical things in my wardrobe. However I am now at the point where I’m not going to bother with these restrictions anymore because the fact is – nautical always look fabulous. Living in Australia means that I have many opportunities to go to the beach, so I may as well embrace it and get all the nautical things! Lately I’ve been enjoying adding nautical looks from different decades to my wardrobe and have a number of nautical outfits planned for summer.

On our road trip to Grafton we stopped for coffee along the way and came across the most beautiful lighthouse I have ever seen. It was tiny, and I’m not entirely sure how functional it could have been, but it was incredibly sweet. Unfortunately that day it poured non stop, but on our way home we stopped by the lighthouse and luckily it wasn’t raining this time. Instead it was a golden afternoon and we watched the sun set over the ocean and the lorikeets gorging themselves on the banksia flowers.

The dress I wore was a rayon Trashy Diva dress with the biggest pockets – perfect for making sure I don’t lose my sunglasses! I’ve often worn this dress to the beach with a swimsuit underneath as it’s so soft and comfortable and the large pockets hold all of the pieces of shell and sea glass that I love to collect.

Dress – Trashy Diva
Shoes – Novo
Sunglasses – ebay

You can never have too much nautical IMHO! Your dress looks fabulous, so perfect alongside the lighthouse. I live near the beach on the south coast which I visit often and I love all things nautical as well so I say go for it and don't restrict yourself. Have fun with it.

Why try and limit a good thing, especially when you create the look so very well. It's so useful to have a pretty dress that works for the beach, makes all the difference. And what a picturesque lighthouse, really the perfect setting for this look!

Ooh, that dress looks so comfy and awesome, especially with those big pockets – it looks like it's perfect for the beach like you said. And I love the cut out detail at the back too, you can never go wrong with a nautical theme!

If it ain't broke… And if you don't have all the nautical dresses, how will you coincidentally match such a cute lighthouse in future? Enough said.

Limit…nautical…does not compute πŸ˜€ Silliness aside, I'm with you entirely. Why fight nautical? It's stylish, youthful, fun, classic, cute, pretty, and always appropriate by the water – plus it looks sensational on you, dear gal. What's not to adore?!

Such gorgeous photos! I'm glad the sun came out for these shots! Such a pretty dress! I love the way you styled it without the red tie that I usually see with it and how cute is the back! I've never seen pictures of the back of this dress before.

Aaah! These photos couldn't be any more perfect! The tiny lighthouse would be the sweetest thing I've ever seen, except your cute outfit just tops it. Nautical looks really suit you, and my, oh my, the setting was made for this dress. Lovely! ❀
