Now that the novelty of a new year has worn off, I’m ready to get back into blogging. Not that the weather this time of year makes it easy, mind you. But with 2024 being the year of the dragon zodiac I thought it was fitting for this to be my first outfit post of the year. I love collecting vintage robes and kimonos to display and the ones with embroidered dragons always catch my eye. So this dress instantly appealed to me. I especially adore the detail on the back, so wearing a turban to make sure it stood out was a must.
Trashy Diva was one of the first vintage reproduction brands that really made me fall in love with 1940s fashion and over the years I have posted a number of their designs. In recent years however their creations have gradually become unattainable on a more modest budget and a weak AUD, so I always feel very fortunate if I can find one of their designs second hand. As I did with this dress here. Thank you Depop!
This outfit is a smart summer evening look for wearing out to dinner on a balmy Brisbane night. The great thing about wearing all black is that its not going to show perspiration, although you do have to be very careful with foundation stains. As I found when I took this dress off and had to scrub it clean. That was after I almost had to be cut out of the dress itself because by the time I got home it had become a second skin. The reality of summer in the tropics. Nothing glamorous about it I’m afraid, despite my attempts to make it appear so with this outfit!

Love the outfit and the parasol is the perfect finishing touch!
