The last outfit from the short season of cooler weather we get is a 1940s reproduction suit by Miss Bamboo. I love that more and more vintage repro brands have started making 1940s suit sets and I try to grab one every time a good one comes out. Miss Bamboo have actually released suits for AW23 in this same style in brown and navy, so I’m pretty tempted. I’ve also made a point of putting more effort into looking that extra bit more authentic (when I can be bothered) and have been going to the effort of wearing seamed stockings with outfits. And I finally found a brand of hairnets that fits all of my hair, so I can enjoy a good hair day every day.
It’s not that I’m particularly stringent about outfits looking completely authentic. But every now and then that’s exactly the kind of look I’m in the mood for. Having dressed in vintage fashion for well over a decade now, I really should be better at this…So I ended up sucking a lemon and investing in a pair of high quality repro CC41 oxfords. I’m all the better for it because I think they really carry an outfit like this. It’s a shame that suits look so out of place these days. Even my husband who wears a suit to work every day is one of the only people in his department that does. Had it not been for our very warm winter this year I would have loved more opportunities to sport some more of my 40s suits, so this is as good as it gets.
Something that really struck me from my last post is that there’s actually a handful of people reading this blog. Hello there! It actually comes as a surprise because I know that blogs went out of fashion many years ago. Not that it has stopped me, I just know more people prefer instagram these days. Which is fine, but I’m finding myself enjoying it even less these days with just about every post being a video. And an AI edit slapped onto everything so that we are going to eventually forget what actual human beings look like. Well that took a negative turn didn’t it? My bad…
