Witchy Folk

August 31, 2022 · 1 Comment

wearing: The Seamstress of Bloomsbury Clarice dress, vintage Russian shawl, bangle and brooch from MrsPollysLucite (etsy), true vintage 1940s purse (ebay) and Kitten D Amour heels

Nope, I haven’t decided to quit blogging. I’m still determined to be the last blogger standing! This has probably been the longest break I’ve taken from posting on here, but not through lack of wanting to. I still love blogging, and I still love dressing up. But whether I get outfit photos or not depends entirely on the weather. And it has been a very wet year. So here’s hoping spring is a little better for outfit photos!

This outfit is nothing new. Things I’ve loved wearing for many years and have blogged before. The dress is my bridesmaids dress from a few years ago, and the shawl is one I inherited from my grandmother. All well loved pieces with sentimental value. The bag is true vintage 1940s, and my accessories are from a delightful Etsy shop I discovered recently. It is probably going to surprise…no one…that I’m a big fan of Ask A Mortician so I was very excited to find this vintage reproduction Victorian mourning brooch.

I like how this all came together for a slightly witchy, folky look. I’m hoping that by finally getting out there and taking photos again, and putting up this post I have ripped off the band aid so I can get back to regular posting. I also want to have a go at not gatekeeping myself so much, and maybe experiment with some new decades…But we shall see…

A vintage lover from Brisbane. I am passionately nostalgic for decades before my time. I enjoy recreating looks inspired by the past wearing both vintage and vintage reproduction clothing. My blog focuses on the styles of the art deco period and features both authentic vintage pieces from the 1920s, 30s & 40s, as well as modern reproductions of clothing from these eras. My blog explores creating modern every day looks with vintage elements. If you would like to say hello get in touch with me through [email protected].
