1940s Christmas Party Style

December 17, 2016 · 8 Comments

The count down is on – there are now only eight sleeps left! As excited as I am for Christmas, I also don’t want the season to be over and for all of the decorations to be put away. One of my favourite parts of the season is the parties and get togethers that take place and the excuse to dress festively and drink cocktails. This weekend has been a particularly busy one for me as with our big family we will be celebrating Christmas twice for family members who wont be present on the day, as well as a birthday thrown in here and there.

To get me through each occasion I decided to pick one dress to be my official party dress, rather than making outfit changes going in between Christmas parties that vary in terms of dress code. My Christmas party dress this year is the lovely 1940s Lilian sarong wrap dress by The Seamstress of Bloomsbury. The red and white polka dot combination is both timeless and festive, and the silky rayon crepe de chine is perfect for wearing on our tropical summer nights.

While normally I avoid wiggle dresses and anything fitted due to our climate, rayon doesn’t cling and instead drapes smoothly, making it an incredibly comfortable and flattering dress to wear. Today this outfit saw me through a birthday barbecue on a very hot afternoon, followed by dinner and drinks in the city. The Lilian dress was wonderful for both of these occasions and I appreciated how comfortable the dress still was at the end of the night. I went a bit lighter on the accessories this time but couldn’t resist wearing my favourite poinsettia hair flower and sparkly heels – as this is the best time of year for sparkly heels!

OMG, total babe!! That dress was made for you gorgeous. You look like you’re glowing in all these photos. And adore the hair flower! The cherry on top of this fashion sundae.

I am excited for Christmas too, but mostly because work is madness this time of year for me and I will get a week off for the holiday! Can’t go wrong with polka dots, and those shoes are divine!

Va va voom!! That neckline is fabulous on you, and the side draping too really accentuates your figure. You have the best shoes too, those are gorgeous. The perfect party outfit! Have fun this week with all its pre-Christmas hecticness x

Red really is your colour! I love the drape down the side front of the skirt, that’s a lovely detail. I don’t want the festive season to be over either, I truly hate taking all the decorations down at the end. It makes everything look so bare! xx
