Grafton

August 22, 2015 · 12 Comments

This week has been all about getting things ready for the wedding which is only a month and a half away now! We spent the last few days in Grafton where the wedding will take place, visiting the reception venue and the cathedral to organize the wedding ceremony. I’m relieved to say that things are coming along nicely, and today I had a dress fitting with the seamstress who has been working on altering my vintage wedding dress.

We chose to have our wedding in Grafton because this is where the majority of our wedding guests live, but also because it’s a truly beautiful little country town full of historic buildings, antique shops and lovely countryside. It’s still cold in New South Wales so our visit gave me the opportunity to wear this beautiful dress I bought from Marianne of Esme and the Laneway who has been selling a number of her vintage pieces. I have always wanted a dress like this because it reminds me so much of Eva Marie Saint’s dress in North by North West!

I drool over that Eve dress every time I watch that film!!

Good luck with the rest of your preparations – mine is two week's today!! Been writing out placecards today and trying to construct a table plan. Takes longer than you think…

What a beautiful part of the world to pick! Although it made me laugh a bit because we have a shopping centre called 'The Grafton' in Cambridge, and it's about as far away from this picturesque beauty as you can get! Beautiful simple outfit too – I find black and red on their own really hard to wear together without feeling a bit 'emo me from 10 years ago' – but you've nailed it! x
