The Fountain

March 17, 2014 · 15 Comments

Dress – Trashy Diva
Shoes – I Love Billy
Sunglasses – Asos

I have walked past this odd stone structure many times in the city botanic gardens without a clue as to what it actually was, and today on closer inspection I discovered that it is actually a 19th century drinking fountain! Built in the 1860s it functioned as a drinking fountain until 1930 and while it no longer has running water, I think it’s rather beautiful.

Splendidly pretty and very chic look! I adore that you opted for a single strand of classic pearls to compliment this timeless warm weather frock. The whole ensemble has a very Grace Kelly-esque feel to it that I just adore.

    Big hugs,
    ♥ Jessica

You look so elegant in this simple look, the acessories are just perfect and let the dress shine. I agree with Jessica that it's quite Grace Kelly! Wonderful to discover the history of somewhere you pass by x

What a beautiful old drinking fountain! Even if it doesn't work, it can still be appreciated and makes a great backdrop for you in that beautiful dress.

I smiled when I saw these photos. Every time I visit the gardens I make sure that I have a walk by and look at this fountain. My mother always used it to show me how high the flood levels rose way back when. You look so nice by the way. Perfect hair!

What a lovely dress! I am always sad though to see things like that no longer in use. I feel like 'drinking fountains' aren't really a thing anymore either, and they should be whether in such a lovely structure, or simply just around the streets. So much nicer to the environment than plastic drink bottles.

You're a picture of loveliness posed by the fountain in that striking patterned dress, beautiful! Due to my pregnancy I'm not able to be online and comment as much as I used to but still so enjoy your posts when I see them!

You are so gorgeous! I know you probably get this a lot but you definitely look like a blonde Dita Von Teese. This dress is absolute perfection on you 🙂

Absolutely gorgeous, as usual! Don't you wish they still made drinking fountains like that.. those new bubblers are so "meh" to look at.
