Necropolis

October 31, 2013 · 11 Comments

In Australia Halloween isn’t really celebrated the way it is in the US, but I’ve been getting into the Halloween spirit by watching horror movies and eating a lot of candy. I spent this morning exploring one of the huge cemeteries in our city, and while I didn’t feel comfortable getting any outfit photos while there (too weird!) I thought to share a few photos of the beautiful Victorian iron work and stone masonry. This particular cemetery is a 150 years old and is quite fascinating but also creepy. On one particular occasion when I was walking through a field of graves I heard two disembodied voices having a full conversation…I still get the chills when I think about it.
Happy Halloween!

Ooh, I love these photos. The first one in particular is wonderfully atmospheric. Old cemeteries are so fascinating don't you think?

We don't celebrate Halloween in Poland either (most of people don't), today is the day we usually spent on cemeteries, bringing flowers to our relatives graves. It's mostly preparing for tomorrow when it's a proper day dedicated to all people that passed away. Beautiful pictures, I went for a walk today and have taken some photos in the park.

What gorgeous photos. I've always loved photographing cemeteries.

Like you, I've never been able to shoot an outfit in a cemetery either. I really wanted to shoot my hearse dress in one, but just couldn't bring myself to do it.

You have injected such warmth and beauty in a place that is far too often seen as little more than frighting, dark and eerie. Elegant, tasteful, completely lovely graveyard images.

Oh! I love going to the cemetery, it's something I do semi-regularly. And I do my outfit pics in them, they're some of my favourite pics normally. It's funny how we have ideas of what's comfortable and not.
